Buying Used

You never know what you're going to find when you buy used camera equipment. This morning I went to go buy a spotmeter from someone who I knew didn't know what he had. Well, after I bought it I asked the guy if he had anything else. He ran back inside and pulled out this Linhof Super Technika Model III 4x5 camera. The gear was owned by his grandpa who was in the Army and also a Marine. The camera has lived a tough life as seen by the leather that's falling apart and the chrome plating that's coming off in several areas. The lens and shutter are perfect though, so I am not complaining. He didn't know what it was worth so I told him it was worth about $75. He asked me if I would pay him that. I offered him $50. He accepted. I gave him $60, plus $100 for the spot meter. Not a bad morning.
